Strip Flooring

Strip flooring is linear flooring that is usually 2 1/4″, 1 1/2″, or 3 1/4″ wide.
It creates a linear effect in a room often promoting the illusion of a larger space.

Hardwood Strip Flooring

It is difficult for most hardwood buyers to distinguish between Hardwood plank flooring and hardwood strip flooring, but the width of hardwood strip flooring is generally narrower and are generally found in 1.5″ to 3″ strips. Hardwood strip flooring comes in two primary thicknesses 5/16″ and 3/4″ although some variations may be found.
In essence, Hardwood strip is both narrower in width and smaller in thickness than hardwood plank.

Solid Floors

are all wood, regardless of width or length, they are one piece of wood from top to bottom. Solid flooring gives you a great opportunity for customization. Your choice of species, stains and finishes all contribute to the personalization of a solid floor. This is an excellent choice in most areas of a home on the ground level or above.

Engineered Wood Floors

are made of several layers of hardwood stacked and glued together under heat and pressure, they are less likely to be affected by extremes in humidity. This makes them suitable for basements or other damp surroundings.
They are available pre-finished or unfinished in a variety of hardwood species, styles, and widths from strip to plank.

Laminated Floors

are made of plywood base topped with a layer of veneer. Plies and thicknesses vary, but three-ply, 3/8 inch flooring is most common. (Remember that solid hardwood floors, at 3/4 inch, are twice as thick as wood laminates.) The veneer topping of wood laminate floors (commonly 1/8 inch thick) can be sanded and refinished three times, at most. Most manufacturer warranties cover the finish for five years.

Oil-modified Polyurethane

is easy to apply solvent-base polyurethane that dries in about eight hours. Gives wood floors depth and richness; protects them from heavy traffic, dirt and spills. Can be used over stain, sealer or alone for a natural look. Durable and transparent; available in satin, gloss or semi-gloss. Easy to maintain.

Water-based Urethane

finishes are clear and non-yellowing. They have a milder odor and dry in about two to three hours. A quick drying water-based floor finish can be recoated in one to two hours.
Won`t yellow over time; ideal for white, pastel or bleached floors. Low odor. Complies with strict environmental air quality regulations. Available in gloss and satin.

 Stain And Wax

This finish soaks into the pores of the wood and hardens to form a protective penetrating seal. The wax gives a low-gloss satin sheen. It is generally maintained with solvent-based (never water-based) waxes, buffing pastes or cleaning liquids (specifically made for wax-finished wood floors and an additional thin application of wax as needed.
